The North Face

The North Face brand was established in 1968 in San Francisco, California, when Douglas Tompkins and Dick "Hap" Klopp created an equipment retail business that eventually acquired the current name "The North Face." This name was chosen because the north face of a mountain in the northern hemisphere is generally the most difficult face to climb. The North Face's logo is an interpretation of Half Dome, a massive granitic monolith in Yosemite National Park, viewed from the west, with the sheer north face of Half Dome to the left.     North Face now offers some of the most technically advanced products on the market, The North Face is the top choice for many of the world's most accomplished climbers, mountaineers, extreme skiers, snowboarders, and explorers. For over 40 years The North Face has produced some of the finest men's, women's, and kids jackets and apparel for every outdoor activity, from trail running to backcountry skiing. Their tents and equipment are used by the world's top mountaineers where performance and reliability are most important. The North Face backpacks have the style for everyday use around town and the performance to trek across even the most remote mountain ranges. If you are new to The North Face, a good place to start is the Denali fleece jacket, for men, women and kids.
