Introduction to Sea Kayaking

$50 PER PERSON PROVIDE YOUR OWN BOAT
$75 WITH BOAT RENTAL

*Beginner course starts at 10am and ends at 1pm
– Location Patriot Lake Shelby Farms

Intermediate course starts at 10am
and ends at 3pm – Location Memphis
Harbor, Auction street boat ramp.

Shelby Forrest to Memphis Trip.
Meet at Miss Cordelia’s (Harbor Town) 9am
Run shuttle to Shelby Forrest return to
Memphis approximately 3pm

*RECREATIONAL BOATS ARE
ACCEPTABLE FOR BEGINNER COURSE

Introductions
Discuss kayaking experience
Review short synopsis of class
Set foot braces and put on sprayskirts and PFD’s
Demo how to enter and exit the kayak
Wet exit (no skirt attached)
Wet exit (with skirt attached)
Introduce the forward stroke
Explain the rudder system
- Up and down
  Right and left
Paddle short distance
Refreshments: water & cookies
Take a tour around the lake
Last thing—demo low and high brace, roll
