As a founder of Outdoors Inc., Joe has been an avid kayak racer, bike racer, and climber for over 35 years. As a skilled biker, Joe has raced in world and national championships in mountain, road, and cyclocross; he has also toured extensively in Europe.

Joe was also instrumental in designing and developing The Tour de Wolf bike trail at Shelby farms and establishing the Blue Heron Paddling Club at Harbor Town. Over the past 30 years, Joe has also been the President of the Memphis Hightailers Bike Club, The Bluff City Canoe and Kayak club, the Memphis Mountaineers, and he is also on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi River Trail.

Over the past few months, Joe has been training daily in his sea kayak, for the Rum Runner: a kayak race from Key Largo to Key West-100 miles in three days.
